Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit that brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities, is partnering with Gibson Gives to further its mission to deliver the healing power of music nationwide.
With this partnership, Gibson becomes the “Official Guitar Partner of Musicians On Call” and will support the organization through initiatives including a special monthly takeover of MOC’s Virtual Bedside Performance Program featuring Gibson sponsored artists. To launch the partnership, both organizations welcomed multi-platinum artist and five-time Latin GRAMMY winner Luis Fonsi for a special virtual performance. Patients sang and danced along as he performed their favorites including “Perfecta,” “Échame La Culpa,” “No Me Doy Por Vencido” and “Despacito.” The performance was broadcast directly to the rooms of pediatric patients at children’s hospitals across the country.
Musicians On Call and Gibson Gives are also holding an online auction featuring a selection of Gibson guitars signed by MOC artist supporters, including Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Luis Fonsi, Peter Frampton, Ingrid Michaelson, Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban. Starting on December 1, fans can bid to win one of the guitars by visiting charitybuzz.com/moc.
“It is an honor for Musicians On Call to partner with such an iconic brand as Gibson Guitars and work closely with the dedicated team at Gibson Gives. They do incredible work making music accessible to new generations of musicians and music lovers,” said Musicians On Call president and CEO Pete Griffin. “We were thrilled to begin our partnership with an unforgettable virtual performance by Luis Fonsi, who brought so much joy to patients at a critical time. Proceeds from the auction and Gibson’s continued support will help Musicians On Call deliver the healing qualities of music to thousands more patients, doctors, and nurses experiencing stress and isolation in the hospital.”
