Hi-Line Music of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., hosted a student jazz workshop program as part of the retailer’s ongoing music lesson program offerings. Students ranging in age from 12 to 66 signed up to play big band jazz arrangements, work on developing improvisation skills, and play a gig on July 14th at Charlie’s Stars & Stripes, a local food and music venue.
Starting on June 5, students rehearsed for an hour on Wednesday nights for six weeks under the direction of Hi-Line Music Teachers Vidal Lepe (Guitar and Violin ), Jason Basoco (Drums and Trumpet), Genett Gamber (Piano), Jacob Mosqueda (Bass), and Pete Gamber (Wind Instruments). Music selections featured entry level arrangements of “Freddie Freeloader” to advanced arrangements like Maynard Ferguson’s “MacArthur Park.”
“I was amazed on how many students signed up to participate,” said Laura Paone, owner of Hi-Line Music. “The final outcome of the performance was great it was nice to see families cheering on their performing students and everybody had a great time.”
