When I was in grammar school, my teacher told my parents, “Gene could be an ‘A’ student, if he only made an effort.” I didn’t understand what making an effort meant. So, I asked my parents, “What does making an effort mean?” They explained that making an effort meant paying attention in class, doing my homework, studying what I was told to study and wanting to be an “A” student. So, I did…and I became an “A” student.
What does “making an effort” mean to you as a salesperson? It means getting to work on time, paying attention to what is going on around you, reading sales training books, staying late if you have a customer and, most of all, having a positive attitude.
Only having a positive attitude and giving 110-percent effort will make you a successful salesperson.Here is what people smarter than I am have to say about effort:

Your success is determined by the amount of effort you give to the job at hand. A little effort will get little results, a good effort will get good results and a great effort will get great results.
