Volume & Tone, an MI accessory company, has appointed Jimmy Archey to Director of Sales and Artist Relations. Archey’s key responsibilities will include overseeing the launch of, and all day-to-day activities within, the newly dedicated wholesale division for Volume & Tone, as well as manage the artist relations program for the company. A 30-year veteran in the MI community, Archey previously held posts at Sam Ash, Gibson Guitar and First Act, before opening independent artist relations, artist management and event production consultation firm Imperium GKR.
Archey began his music career as a sound technician in South Jersey and Philadelphia clubs throughout the mid-80s, working at legendary punk rock venues, including City Gardens, TLA and Electric Factory. He landed at Gibson Guitars in 1989 as Artist Relations Manager (NY), earning respect as one of the top reps in the field, working with the likes of Les Paul, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Allman Brothers Band, Bon Jovi and The Cure.
In 2003, Jimmy founded the First Act Custom Shop alongside several former Gibson Custom Shop luthiers and helped build the foundation of a well-respected brand among artists. In a very short period of time, he began working with artists from Mastodon to High On Fire, Depeche Mode to Billy Joel, Every Time I Die to Taking Back Sunday, and was instrumental in the highly-popular and successful television ad campaign with Volkswagen featuring John Mayer, Slash and Nigel Tufnel.
Since departing First Act, Archey has notably worked on new product launches and marketing campaigns with Gretsch, Blackstar Amps, Korg, Fender, JBL, Tech 21, Malekko Heavy Industry and Maxon.
Jimmy Archey is currently based at the Volume & Tone U.S. headquarters in New York.
