As the Founder and CEO of Peavey Electronics, Hartley Peavey has, in his storied career, more than 180 patents to his company’s credit, a track record for innovations in music and audio, and a legacy of building gear for musicians and professionals. Peavey and the company he founded in 1965 have figured heavily in the success of their hometown of Meridian MS—so much so that The Meridian Star recognized Hartley Peavey’s commitment by naming him Citizen of the Year.
“It’s a testament to Peavey’s commitment to his hometown that he’s not only continued to keep his business here, but that his business is continuing to grow and innovate,” said Meridian Star Publisher Crystal Dupré. Peavey attributes the success of the company to the hard work, determination and enthusiasm of its employees, who work in an environment in which there is a creative, passionate dynamic that fosters growth and technological advancement.
Peavey’s legacy of innovation includes revolutionizing guitar manufacturing by introducing CNC computer-controlled machines to the process. Peavey also created MediaMatrix, the first digitally networked audio system, which can be found in more than 10,000 venues worldwide. The innovation continues with the self-tuning Peavey AT-200 guitar featuring Antares Auto-Tune.
