The Percussive Arts Society (PAS) has awarded Dave Black, percussionist/composer, the 2012 Percussive Arts Society President’s Industry Award for his “visionary leadership and profound impact on the music community at large.” Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of School & Church Publications at Alfred Music Publishing, Black has demonstrated significant achievement in his field and outstanding support of the PAS. He is the co-author of several books and has also written articles, book reviews and concert reviews for magazines such as Down Beat, Modern Drummer, The Instrumentalist, Drums and Drumming, among others. He has also written with and for the bands of Louie Bellson, Sammy Nestico and Bill Watrous.
