The Board of Directors for the National Association of School Music Dealers (NASMD) convened for its annual mid-year meeting in October and has announced that the 2021 convention will be held at the Lanier Islands Legacy Lodge in Buford, Ga. from March 17 to 20.
“We had a great program planned for this past March which was canceled in the early days of the pandemic,” NASMD president Whitney Grisaffi said. “We’ll be presenting a number of those previously planned sessions and supplementing with additional relevant topics for today’s business climate. [The] 2020-2021 program chair CJ Averwater worked hard this spring to bring valuable educational sessions to our members and offer continued support to our sponsors. We are grateful to everyone who participated.”
As of right now, the Board of Directors is planning to approach the convention in one of two ways. Plan A will be an in-person meeting utilizing more space for social distancing. It may also include livestreaming speakers and sharing pre-recorded videos. Plan B will be for an all-virtual convention if travel and in-person meetings are still restricted at the time.
