One editorial tradition among several that The Retailer observes is our annual “Salute to Lesser-Publicized Music Products,” which finds its home in our November issue and, thus, we present to you here. This is a chance for companies to showcase products that, in the normal hustle and bustle of covering the music products industry, can sometimes be overlooked or crowded out by electric guitars, drum sets, amps and speakers. Our selection this year runs the gamut from flutes to ukuleles to banjos to harmonicas, with other miscellaneous “goodies” in the mix, as well. In many cases, they’re the kinds of products whose profit margins dwarf what most dealers make on, say, a typical electric guitar, making these items’ presence on your radar screens all the more critical as the frenzy of December holiday selling lies only weeks away.
