APOGEE

Recent talks between Hal Leonard Corp. and Apogee Electronics, prominent in digital audio recording technology, have culminated in a new distribution deal for the MI and pro audio channels in the U.S. and Canada. Apogee’s Director of Worldwide Sales, Jeremy Stappard, reached the agreement with Brad Smith, Senior Sales and Marketing Manager for Hal Leonard.

Hal Leonard will initially distribute Apogee’s ONE for iPad and Mac, MiC 96k, JAM, JAM 96k and GiO lines. Many of these products have the distinction of being the first professional-quality audio interfaces for recording using iPhones, iPads and Macs. These tools are used by some of the most prominent recording artists, musicians, producers and engineers around the world.

Apogee recently announced an OEM partnership with Avid. Avid now offers Apogee’s hardware technology bundled with its Pro Tools software in two solutions: Pro Tools | Duet and Pro Tools | Quartet. Hal Leonard has represented Avid since 2010, and the company intends to make new Avid/Apogee bundles available, as well as cross-sell Apogee products to customers who already own Pro Tools 11.

Stappard said, “We’ve been watching Hal Leonard’s growth in the tech distribution area, and we’re very impressed. We hear nothing but raves from our retailers on their sales team and the services they offer.” He added, “Hal Leonard reaches independent dealers and the school and church markets better than we ever could. So, we’re moving forward with them. We plan to stay very involved, as true distribution and marketing partners.”

Smith remarked, “We are extremely selective when it comes to expanding our distribution. We only consider companies that fill a niche and are the best at what they do. Apogee certainly fits the bill.”
