NAMM announced that Arne Duncan, former U.S. Secretary of Education and current managing partner at Emerson Collective, will kick off NAMM’s 2021 Virtual Advocacy Summit with a discussion about leading change — and leadership during times of change. Gather online with NAMM members, music educators, parent advocates, and nonprofit and community organization leaders to strengthen music education advocacy to assure music education for all. The event will take place on May 25 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
NAMM’s Advocacy Summit has been virtual the past two years due to the pandemic. Previously, it was an-person event in Washington D.C., where NAMM delegates were joined by the likes of former Yankee World Series champion and jazz performer Bernie Williams, as well as rapper J. Dash.
Duncan was the U.S. Secretary of Education from January 2009 to July 2016.
