The Avedis Zildjian Company has promoted Jerry Smith to North American Sales Manager, effective April 1. In this newly created position, Smith will report directly to Andy Schlosser, Vice President of Global Sales, and have responsibility for the management of the company’s independent sales representatives in the U.S. and distributors in Canada and Mexico. In addition, Smith will be a major contributor to the development and execution of strategic sales plans for North America.
Smith has been involved with the music industry for most of his professional life. He joined Zildjian in November 2002 as Regional Sales Manager for the Central and Midwest territories. Subsequently, he assumed responsibility for Canada, Mexico and the West Coast, in addition to managing all U.S. distributors, Harris Teller and Universal Percussion.
Prior to joining Zildjian, Smith was District Sales Manager for Kaman Music for 14 years. He also worked for Washburn International as Midwest Sales Manager; served as Vice President and Managing Partner of SIMCO; and was District Sales Manager of M. Hohner. Smith is also an accomplished musician who enjoys playing bass when he’s not on the road.
