The Smart Women in Music Fund (SWIM) launched SWIM Masters, a podcast dedicated to help connect, grow, and support women in the music products industry.
Hosted by Natalie Morrison, the podcast was initially developed at the beginning of the stay-at-home order during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to bring virtual conversations to the community that stay true to the organization’s mission.
Twice a month, new episodes will feature interviews with women all across the industry and can be listened to on all major platforms including, Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Podcasts. The first couple episodes feature DeDe Heid, one of the SWIM founders, executive vice president of Heid Music in Wisconsin and Lisa Steele-MacDonald, director of vertical marketing at Yamaha.
Participation from SWIM members is encouraged by following the SWIM Facebook page, for a chance to submit questions for upcoming guests.
SWIM, led by Robin Walenta, president of West Music Co., Crystal Morris, president and CEO of Gator Cases, and Heid, was launched in 2018 and aims to support women in the industry in three key areas: offering mentoring, learning and professional development opportunities at The NAMM Show and Summer NAMM; job shadowing of female leaders at industry events; and in-company residencies.
